Big Items Gone, Without The Hassle
Bulky waste is anything too big for your wheelie bin: sofas, wardrobes, beds, mattresses, fridges, washing machines, carpets and old garden furniture. It’s also the waste most people struggle with, because it won’t fit in a car and usually has to come down the stairs first.
Our bulky waste collection London service takes care of all of it. Send us photos on WhatsApp or through the quote form, and we reply with one fixed price, usually within minutes. You choose the time, including evenings and weekends, and we can often collect the same day or the next morning.
A two-person team carries everything out from wherever it is, whether that’s a top-floor flat, a loft, a garage or the back garden. We load the van, sweep up and take it all for reuse, recycling or licensed disposal. There’s nothing to put on the pavement and no limit on the number of items. Bags, boxes and everyday clutter can go in the same trip with our household rubbish removal service.

How Much Does Bulky Waste Collection Cost?
Bulky waste collection is priced by how much space your items take in the van, plus anything that needs extra work, like a high floor or a very heavy item. Labour, loading and disposal at a licensed site are always included, and the price we give you is the price you pay.
| What you have | Typical example | Price |
|---|---|---|
| One bulky item | A sofa, wardrobe, fridge or mattress | from £49 |
| A few bulky items | A sofa, an armchair and a carpet | £100–£135 |
| A room of furniture | A bedroom or living room cleared | £175–£250 |
Mattresses carry a small recycling charge, which we always include in your quote. See the full price list for bigger loads.
Council Bulky Waste Collection Or A Private Service?
Both have their place. Here’s how they compare.
| Council collection | Waste Collectors | |
|---|---|---|
| Collected from | The kerb outside your home | Any room, floor, loft or garden |
| When | The next free slot, often one to two weeks away | Usually the same or next day, 7 days a week |
| How many items | A set number per booking | As many as you have |
| What’s accepted | Household items only | Household and business items |
| Lifting | You carry everything outside | Our team does all the lifting |
If you have one or two items, help with the lifting and time to wait, your council’s bulky collection is a good value option. If you need things gone quickly, have a lot of items or can’t get them downstairs, a private bulky waste collection is the easier choice.
What Is Classed As Bulky Waste?
Bulky waste is any household item too large to fit in your normal bin. The most common bulky items in London homes are sofas and armchairs, beds and mattresses, wardrobes and chests of drawers, tables and chairs, fridges, freezers and washing machines, carpets and rugs, and large garden items like furniture, trampolines and barbecues.
Electrical items such as fridges and TVs are recycled separately under WEEE rules, and mattresses go to specialist recyclers who separate the springs, foam and fabric. Upholstered furniture like sofas is sent for high-temperature treatment, as Environment Agency rules require. We handle all of this for you.
Waste Collectors is a registered waste carrier with the Environment Agency, and you can check our licence on the public register. Every collection comes with a waste transfer note.

Bulky Waste Collection Questions
It depends on how many items you have and how much space they take in the van. The price table above shows typical prices, and every quote includes two people, carrying, loading and disposal.
Anything too big for your normal bin, such as sofas, beds, mattresses, wardrobes, fridges, washing machines, carpets and garden furniture.
Charities and reuse groups often collect furniture for free if it’s in good condition, and upholstered items still need their fire safety label. You can also take items to your local recycling centre if you have a suitable vehicle.
For one or two items, your council’s bulky collection is usually the cheapest if you can carry them outside and wait for a slot. For several items, anything upstairs or when you need it gone quickly, a fixed-price collection is usually better value once you count your time.
Often the same day. Send us photos in the morning and we can usually collect that day, or first thing the next morning.
No. We collect from inside your home, including upstairs flats, lofts, basements, garages and back gardens.
Not if we can get to the items. Label what’s going, leave a key with a neighbour or concierge, and we’ll send you photos once it’s done.
Yes. We collect office furniture, shop fittings and old stock from businesses across London, with a waste transfer note for your records.
We sort every load. Good furniture goes to reuse, metal, wood and electricals are recycled, and only what’s left goes to a licensed waste site.
