Your Old Mattress, Gone For Good
Old mattresses are one of the hardest things to get rid of. They’re heavy, they flop about, they won’t fit in a car and they can’t go in your normal bin. Most of our mattress removal London jobs start with a new mattress on its way and nowhere to put the old one.
Send us a photo on WhatsApp or through the quote form and tell us the floor and postcode. We reply with one fixed price, usually within minutes, and we can often collect the same day or the next morning, 7 days a week.
Our team carries the mattress out from wherever it is, down the stairs and out to the van, so there’s nothing to drag outside. We can take the bed frame, headboard and anything else in the room at the same time. Every mattress goes to a licensed mattress recycler, not landfill.

How To Get Rid Of An Old Mattress In London
The main options, and when each one works best.
Council bulky collection
Most London councils collect mattresses for a small fee. You book online, put the mattress outside on the day and wait for the next free slot, which is often a week or two away.
Your local recycling centre
Most London reuse and recycling centres accept mattresses from residents. You’ll need a vehicle big enough to carry it, and some sites ask you to book a slot first.
Retailer take-back
Many mattress shops offer to take your old mattress when they deliver the new one, usually for a fee and only on the delivery day. Check what’s included when you order.
A licensed mattress removal service
The easiest option. We collect from inside your home at a time that suits you, often the same day, and take it straight to a licensed recycler.

What Happens To Your Old Mattress?
Mattresses take up huge amounts of space in landfill, so we send every one we collect to a licensed mattress recycler. There, each mattress is taken apart by hand or by machine. The steel springs are recycled as scrap metal, the foam is shredded and reused, often as carpet underlay, and the fabric and fibres are separated for recycling or energy recovery.
Waste Collectors is a registered waste carrier with the Environment Agency, and you can check our licence on the public register. Every mattress removal comes with a waste transfer note, so you know exactly where your mattress went.
